Lights of Christmas

Date: December 10, 2012

The Christmas season is here and it is time for Forest Hills to celebrate the season by lining its streets with six foot Frazier fir trees and decorating them with miniature lights.

Our neighborhood grows more beautiful every year at Christmas time as more and more neighbors participate. We love to ride through the neighborhood on Christmas Eve to see how much participation has grown from the previous years. If you have not participated in the past, we encourage you to join in this year. If you have questions or need help with putting trees up, let us know. If you have neighbors that need assistance putting their trees up, you may want to extend a helping hand.

Tree Placement -Trees should be placed in the center of your yard, 6 feet from the street decorated with miniature white lights. Beginning December 10th, they should be turned on nightly at 6:00. We have found that the easiest and quickest way to set the trees up is to secure the trunk with coat hangers to a metal fencing post that you drive into the ground. It is not necessary to dig a hole for your tree. It can just sit on top of the ground. This is much more stable than a tree stand that tends to blow over or get stolen.

The fencing post can be purchased at either Ace Hardware (815 State Street, Cayce, SC  29033), Home Depot or Lowe's for around $6.00.
